McAfee was, not sure if it still is, notorious for screwing over .Net applications, mostly ASP.Net web applications. It got so bad that my company put out a statement saying that we would not support servers running McAfee unless every single one of our software directories was excluded, and some times that was not enough...
Hope it's better now, I found it to be bloated for client side use.

That's certainly not a bad idea. What I normally do is use a spare HD and just clone my primary partition, so if something does happen, you can just swap the drives out and pick up where you left off at your last backup. I'm not sure how far back you can boot from a partition clone, but I did this when changing over to a RAID 0 config to keep from having to start over then.

I know Trend Micro costs $50 a year but I find it is easy and thorough. I don't know the reliability of these programs but I found this on a simple Google search for "Trend Micro Keygen":
Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 with Keygen (download torrent) - TPB
Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security Pro 2008 16.10-1160 +keygen Torrent Download
trend micro keygen | isoHunt - the BitTorrent and P2P search engine
I JUST updated to 2009 because my year was up. However 2008 was working just fine. I don't know if the key gens will allow updates or not, but it's worth a try. These download links are at you're own risk however, but some simple checks (that I haven't had time for) will tell you...plus if you know you're Torrent sites you can make a better judgment for yourself.
And that's my 2 cents.

Kaspersky and NOD 32 are the best antovirus programs !
Kaspersky make computer slow and when scann the system works 2 hrs but he does the real work for a antivirus ! But when you deaktivate the protection to protect realtime antivirus works too and PC is faster and you are protectet too.
