Does Dual Monitors affect Frame rate?

Hey everyone,
I figured this is the best place to ask this.
I am running a single 8800GT with a 22" monitor as my primary monitor @ 1680 x 1050 res. and a 19" monitor as my secondary @ 1440 x 900 res.

My question is how much does having both monitors going affect my frame rate and would it make any difference running the game on the 19" monitor instead of the 22" monitor?

Also, if I changed it to single display, would this increase my frame rate?

Thanks in advance!

Well if your playing on one monitor while the 2nd monitor is still up and running, then yes, this will take away from your frame rate. Think about it. If you have one video card, that means you have to split the processing power between two monitors. Obviously, depending on what is being viewed on the 2nd monitor, that will determine your frame rate on your game monitor. If your viewing a highly graphical program or something on the 2nd monitor, its going to take away alot more from your 1st monitor but if its just setting idle with nothing really using the video card process, then your frame rate will be better on your 1st monitor. And of course, if you just changed it to single display, it would increase your frame rate because then the graphics card is focusing souly on the one monitor.

I run a 22" monitor and a 17" monitor on an 8800GT, 1680x1050 and something I don't remember.

I personally have not noticed a frame rate drop.

Like the people before me have said, your Graphics card is running 2 monitors at the same time.

I have a 24 inch and a 19 inch running together. The only time your frame rate is going to drop is if you either split the games across the 2 screens, or you have to many programs running on the 2nd screen.

GPU ÷ 2 = less framerate

It also depends not only on your video card, but your processor aswell. I run a Core i7 and I don't have to worry about multi-tasking issues. But if you have a single core processor, thats when things can get bad.
